15 Reasons Why We Love Olivia Wilde and You Should Too

from Avon’s beauty for a purpose

Who is Olivia Wilde? An actress? Mother? Filmmaker? Philanthropist? Avon Ambassador? It turns out, all the above. A true Jack — er, Jane — of all trades, Olivia Wilde is a woman who wears many fabulous hats in her career and personal life and has demonstrated time and time again to stand in support AVON’s belief that the world needs more empowered women. Coming up with just one reason why we love Olivia Wilde would be impossible. So instead, we’ve got 15 — and practically had to force ourselves to stop there.

1. She’s not afraid to break a nail.

Olivia knew she wanted to be a performer when she was at the wee age of three. Her parents’ response? Do it. Like many before her, she cut her teeth as a production assistant — fetching coffee and carrying clipboards — and studied acting in school before hitting it big.

2. She’s keeping superwomen on the big screen.

“We could use more films that really show women in fierce professional roles — I would really like to play the President,” says Olivia. But more than just wishing for more interesting roles, Olivia is creating them. She has started to build out her own production company. The Tribeca Film Festival in New York recently screened Meadowland, a feature film she not only produced but starred in as well.

3. When we say “creative muscles,” Olivia says “flex!”

She wants to us to break barriers. “I’m putting together projects that are…eclectic, but the common denominator is providing exciting opportunities for women.” Flex those creative muscles, ladies! Olivia said so.

4. What does Olivia want? For you to follow your dreams.

Olivia credits her parents for taking her dreams seriously and thinks you should do. “They didn’t dismiss my dreams of becoming an actress,” she says. Take it from Ms. Wilde: Never give up on the things you want.

5. She believes words and actions should match.

Changing the world doesn’t mean fat checkbooks and fancy fundraisers, just passion. “Find a cause that speaks to you and get involved. It’s just a matter of finding one you believe in and can contribute to.”

6. “Empire State of Mind” would probably be her theme song.

Olivia’s love for NYC runs deep; she grew up in the Big Apple. “I love the people of New York,” says Olivia. “It’s where people come to really try things.”

7. Basketball anyone?

Whether it’s college level or pro, Olivia’s a diehard hoops fan. We love that she can easily switch between the rough-and-tumble courts and glamorous red carpet with ease.

8. Speaking of red carpet…

Olivia’s fashion sense is spot-on. Whether she’s behind the camera or playing in the park with Otis, Olivia has an effortlessly chic style that always stands out.

9. Her Twitter feed. All of it.

Kick back and take a load off with Olivia’s unfiltered mind. She’s absolutely hilarious and has a refreshing take on what’s happening in the world.

10. Hello, fellow foodie!

“Well, if I weren’t an actress, I’d be a chef. I think that’s just because I really love to eat.” Check Olivia’s aforementioned Twitter feed and you’ll get a glimpse into her culinary obsessions. Her weak spot? Chocolate…at bedtime. She keeps a stash of dark chocolate close so she can get that last square of chocolate heaven in before bed.

11. Olivia loves…love!

This not only makes her highly qualified to be the face of Today Tomorrow Always Amour, but it also makes her even more endearing. On the topic of romance, Olivia says, “The most romantic thing anyone’s ever done for me is move mountains to spend more time with me.”

12. If she invented a fantasy Avon scent…

“I mean, if Avon could create a baby scent, I would wear that perfume everyday, because there’s nothing I love more than the smell of a baby — their little arms around your neck. There’s really nothing better than a tiny warm baby hug.”

13. Her heart is big. Really big.

She’s an AVON Ambassador, an active supporter for causes like the American Civil Liberties Union, the Community Health Worker Initiative and Artists for Peace and Justice. Giving back is important to Olivia and it’s important to Avon. Glad we’re all on the same page here.

14. She has found THE secret to a happy life.

“Time spent with the people you love.” Life is all about creating memories, and having experiences. Olivia says she’ll sacrifice that extra hour of sleep for only one thing: to have more time with her friends and family and to really experience life.

15. She admits she’s not perfect — though we think she’s pretty darn close!

“I will always be a student in this profession. You don’t ever nail it. You never say, great, I learned how to act. I figured this out. It’s a constant discovery, which is actually what’s so fun about it.” Ms. Wilde has humility in spades.
