Beauty

Call it a lipstick-defining moment. In Beauty for a Purpose’s Kiss & Tell series, real beauties – from entrepreneurs to boldface names – share the inspiring stories behind their most triumphant moments while wearing a favorite confidence-boosting shade.

Pretty Little Liars star, singer and mark. Brand Ambassador Lucy Hale has the unique talent to conquer any genre, whether it’s teasing a plot twist, rocking a country tune or ruling the red carpet. In fact, perhaps the only person who can rival Hale in the style department is her PLL character Aria. As for her flawless makeup moments, we only have three words: Teen Choice Awards. (Another three words: blue chrome eyeliner!)

Her pretty little secret? Hale’s fashion chops started young, thanks to her grandmother’s closet.

Lucy’s Story

“My very first beauty memory is of lipstick. When I was growing up my grandma had the most amazing trunk of jewelry, costumes, accessories and makeup. Whenever she would take her nap, I would get into the trunk and put on a tutu and red lipstick and run around the house. It was good practice for one of my favorite red carpet moments, at the American Music Awards last year. I wore a Goth lip, which was something completely new and bold for me. It was one of the first times I completely, truly stepped out of my comfort zone at a big event. I feel like, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more comfortable ignoring the beauty ‘rules,’ and I’m not afraid to try something new.”

Lucy wears mark. Lipclick Full Color Lipstick in Whiney and Hot & Spicy.
